Welcome back, even though it is I that has been away for awhile, over a month to be exact. However, that's neither here nor there.
I am proud to bring you another post on my second-hand findings that have all been found at one of the two Bookmans locations that I visit.
The game I am writing about this week was found at the Bookmans on Grant and Campbell. The game is no longer available through regular retail outlets, online there is a copy available for the amount that I payed for it at Bookmans, $15.
"Junta" (pronounced whoon-ta) was a game that was originally created in 1978 by Vincent Tsao. In 1985 the game was put out by West End Games.
Ben Grossman and Eric Goldberg redesigned the game.
The game I got was missing the three dice, but those are easy enough to replace. The weird thing was that the cards and money looked used, but none of the counters were punched out. Makes me wonder if it was Frankensteined, uh oh well.
The box was in fair condition as well. However, the Bookmans on Grant should really get a shrink-wrap machine or if they already have one they need to use it on the board games. All they do to seal the boxes is put packaging tape on all four sides of the box.
I am not a fan of this because it destroys the integrity of the box. Granted I intend on playing the game, but there is a collectors market and to me that takes away from the value of the game.

221 B. Baker St. and The Time Machine
Welcome back gaming audience for yet another second hand find that I came across at the Bookmans on Speedway. It does manage to tie into the last game I talked about in my last post.
It's time to put your deerstalker cap back on and grab a magnifying glass to take on the roll Sherlock Holmes in 221 B. Baker St. and The Time Machine.
The game was published in 1996 as a new deluxe edition of 221 B. Baker St. by the John N. Hansen Company. My copy however was printed in 1997.
The game ranges for $12.93 to $64.94 depending on the type and condition. The copy I got a hold of at Bookmans cost me $8.
The copy I got wasn't in the greatest condition as a corner of the box was ripped and one of the tokens was broken as well. However, those issues are minor in my opinion as long as the game is entertaining.
The game is considered a deluxe edition but there are some changes to the game. For one you are able to try and solve mysteries throughout time.

221 B Baker Street
Hello again, I'm back with a new used game that I purchased at Bookmans on Speedway and Wilmot.
The game is "221 B Baker Street" and it is a master detective board game that has twenty original adventures in the Sherlock Holmes mystery realm.
The copy I picked up cost me $7 when it retails for around $20. It was published by the John N. Hansen Company.
Hansen Company was established in 1947 and puts out numerous toys and games like Hoberman Spheres and board games from Parker Brothers.
The game was originally printed in 1975.
It appears that my particular copy of 221 B Baker Street was published in 1977-78.
The game has 20 different mysteries to solve in which the game suggests that you play them in order 1-20. A rough estimate of about an hour and 20 minutes for each mystery.
The object of the game is to travel around the board collecting enough clues for you to feel confident enough head back to 221 B Baker Street and solve the mystery.

Vegas Vacation
October 3, I headed out at about 10 a.m. with the final destination being Las Vegas, with my brother Will, my cousin Mel and our friend Geoff. The road actually seemed to go by pretty fast as we joked about numerous subjects over the drive.
One of the biggest jokes was the idea of a sequel to "Waterworld" which we called Landworld, which of course would give Kevin Costner another chance to beat a child in a movie.
Now this may sound bad, but it does seem to be true as in "A Perfect World," "Waterworld" and "3000 Miles to Graceland" he smacks kids with authority.
Anyways back to the story we reached the small town of Wickenburg about one o'clock and we stopped to eat at a little restaurant, Ike's Cook Shack. The place said it had a max capacity of 49 people, but I was curious as how they could have fit that many people in there.
It resembled a log cabin with camo table cloths and chef aprons. They had a big flat screen on the wall and it had Fox News on it, so you can guess who that town will vote for.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Concert
Welcome back, sorry it's been awhile, I've just been extremely busy and haven't had much free-time. This post will be obviously different from my previous posts as I will be talking about the recent concert I attended.
On Sept. 25 I traveled up to Phoenix with my nephew Dakota to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers play at the Jobing.Com Arena. The tour is for their I'm With You album which was released on Aug. 29, 2011, it is their 10th studio album.
I have excited for this concert for about a year. One reason is that they are my favorite band, another is I haven't seen them in concert since about '99 with their Californication tour. One more reason I was stoked for this concert was because it was supposed to take place originally March 2.

Snorta!
Welcome back once again to my Second Hand Findings blog. This week I will be talking about Snorta!
I found a copy of Snorta! at the Bookmans on Speedway and Wilmot for $5. The game retails for around $23, although they have changed the artwork on the box and have apparently have changed the style of the pieces as well.
Now the copy that I got was obviously well used as the box has seen better days and the cards do have some wear and tear. This doesn't bother me as it's nice to know that the previous owner must have had a good time with it. (Plus I only paid five bucks for it)
Snorta! was originally printed in 2004. It was printed by "Out of the Box" Publishing Company. The company has put out other games such as "Word on the Street," "7 Ate 9" and "10 Days in the USA."

Hell Rail: Third Perdition
Welcome back to my weekly blog, where I talk about board games that I come across in my wanderings through out the city. (But predominately Bookmans, okay so always Bookmans so far, just the different locations)
This week I will be talking about the copy of Hell Rails: Third Perdition, that I stumbled upon in my rummaging at the Bookmans at Speedway and Wilmot.
The game cost me about $10. It is made by Mayfair Games, based off of Hell Rail that was created by James Kyle, Sandie Richardson and Chris Young.
Mayfair Games has put out other games such as "Settlers of Catan," "Empire Builder" and "Family Business."

RISK: 2210 A.D.
Welcome back to Secondhand Findings, my few random viewers to yet another week and another board game that I happened to stumble across.
This week I will be talking about the copy of RISK: 2210 A.D. that I happened upon when I was at the Bookmans on Campbell and Grant.
The game is for 2-5 players, ages 10 and up.
RISK: 2210 A.D. was designed by Rob Daviau and Craig Van Ness, it was originally printed in 2001 by Avalon Hill games, which is a division of Hasbro, which have put out other games such as "Axis and Allies," "Betrayal at House on the Hill" and one of my personal favorites "Roborally."
The game regularly retails at $42.99 and I picked it up for $20. Granted the box has seen better days, but it's not like its completely destroyed, the previous owners got some use out of it. The corners are dinged and the overall box is faded, but it had all the pieces there and those are in good condition.

Automobile Find
Earlier this year I stopped in at the Speedway Bookmans as I tend to do several times a week, honestly I could live there if I needed to.
While there I came across a copy of "Automobile" a game that was made in 2009 by Mayfair Games and was created by Martin Wallace who has made other games such as "Steam," "Age of Industry" and "Rise of Empires."
However, the copy I came across was not made in 2009, rather it was one of 1,500 copies made in 2008 and it was released by Wallace's own publishing company Warfrog games of the Treefrog Line.
Warfrog no longer exists and his company is now just strictly Treefrog now. The copy I found of this game was 1,358 of the 1,500 made. It also is signed by Martin Wallace right next to the print number.

Second Hand Blog Introduction
Mylo Erickson |
My wife tends to shake her head whenever I geek out about something. As of this day she shook her head at how excited I am about Shark Week and my excitement that "Jaws" is now out on Blu-ray.
I am also truly excited that I will get a chance to see "Jaws" in the theater, as it will be shown on August 23 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Century Theaters in town.
Anyways back to what I was originally talking about, board games. as a kid I mostly played card games as that what my family would play whenever they got together. Obviously I did play some classic board games like "Monopoly," "Clue," "Mouse Trap" and "Hungry, Hungry Hippos."
